Will the 44018 Fit Your Bay?
Floor space and overhead clearance, not weight rating, are usually the limiting factor here. Challenger's own runway-spacing range for this model is 36"-54", and overall height is 102.5" -- check both against your bay before you order.

Site Prep - What Your Bay Needs Before Install Day
The prep list for a lift this size is short but non-negotiable. If any one of them is uncertain, call us first.
Concrete
A four-post lift this size puts real load into the slab. Concrete thickness, strength, and cure age all have to meet Challenger's published installation requirements for the 44018. If you are unsure what is under your floor, we can help you find out.
Electrical
Challenger specifies 3 HP, 208-230V single-phase (30 A) as the standard power unit on the 44018. Confirm your panel and circuit against this before install day.
Anchoring
The 44018 bolts to the slab at all four posts per Challenger's installation manual. Plan for a rotary hammer drill and the anchor-bolt layout in the manual.
Alamo does not just ship this lift and leave. We size it to your building, coordinate the freight, install it, and come back for inspections.

Challenger 44018

Turning away medium-duty fleet and transit work because your current lift can't safely handle it is real revenue walking out the door. The Challenger 44018 is Alamo's answer: an 18,000 lb capacity four-post lift built for exactly that job. Its standard-length configuration accommodates vehicles with wheelbases up to 194 inches, and adjustable runways (36-54 in spacing) handle a wide range of medium-sized transit vehicles. Diamond-plate approach ramps provide positive traction, and the built-in runway rail system lets you add convenience options like rolling jacks and an oil drain pan (sold separately).

The 44018 raises on a proven cable-drive design with a single-point mechanical lock release for simple, reliable operation. Available with black columns. This is the standard-length version of the 44018 family — see the 44018E for the extended-length variant.

Who the 44018 Is Built For

  • Fleet and transit shops running vehicles up to a 194" wheelbase — the 44018's standard-length deck is sized for medium-duty vans, cutaways, and transit vehicles without paying for the extended 44018E's longer footprint.
  • Shops that need adjustable runway spacing — 36"-54" width-between-runways adjustment covers a wider range of tread widths than a fixed-width lift, so one lift services more of the fleet.
  • Buyers who want a rolling jack and drain pan later, not necessarily today — the built-in runway rail system accepts a 9K rolling jack and 32-gal oil drain pan as sold-separately add-ons whenever the budget allows.
  • Shops with a 3HP, 208-230V single-phase panel already in place — the 44018 runs on a standard single-phase circuit at 30A -- no three-phase service or air line required.
  • Buyers who want one team for sizing, delivery, install, and service — Alamo measures your bay, installs the lift, and stays the point of contact for warranty and service afterward.

What the 44018 Is NOT Built For

  • You need ALI certification specifically for compliance or insurance documentation -- see the ALI-certified 4018XFX in the same 18K class instead.
  • Your heaviest vehicle runs a wheelbase longer than 194" -- step up to the 44018E.
  • You need front turntable cutouts for alignment work -- that's the 44018AR, a different deck configuration.
  • You only need a light-duty home-garage lift -- the 7,000 lb CL4P7 costs less to buy and run.
  • Your bay can't clear a 102.5" overall height plus the vehicle -- confirm ceiling clearance before you order.

What Sets the 44018 Apart

  • 18,000 lb lifting capacity
  • Standard wheelbase capacity up to 194 in
  • Single-point mechanical lock release
  • Diamond-plate approach ramps for positive vehicle traction
  • Adjustable runways (36-54 in spacing) for a variety of tread widths
  • Approach ramps with heavy-duty steel roller wheels
  • Built-in runway rail system for rolling jacks / oil drain pan (sold separately)
  • Black columns
