Will the EV1020-XP9 Fit Your Bay?
This is a below-grade pit install, not a surface-mounted lift with a ceiling-clearance question -- the numbers that matter are pit depth/footprint and drive-thru clearance, not overhead height. Your bay still needs the floor space for the excavation and the finished cassette; Alamo reviews your actual layout before you commit.
RISE HEIGHT
70"
working height, screw pads at top position
STROKE
68"
cylinder travel, pad down to full rise
WIDTH OVERALL
79.75"
cassette width across the pit
Send us your bay and pit layout and we will confirm the fit. Call (817) 865-3707 before you commit to a configuration.
Site Prep - What Your Pit Install Needs Before Day One
The prep list for a below-grade lift is longer than a surface-mounted one. If any one of them is uncertain, call us first.
Pit Excavation & Concrete
An inground lift needs a below-grade pit/cassette excavation in addition to standard concrete work -- installation scope is materially greater than a surface-mounted 2-post or 4-post. A site survey (soil/water table, existing slab thickness, utility routing) comes before any excavation.
Electrical
Challenger specifies 2HP, 208-230V, 60Hz, 1-Phase as the standard power unit on the EV1020-XP9. Confirm your panel and circuit against this before install day.
Air Supply
The lock release on this lift requires 90 - 120 psi of shop air. Plan the air drop as part of the install, not an afterthought.
Alamo does not just ship this lift and leave. We review your pit plan, coordinate the excavation and concrete work, install the lift, and come back for inspections.

Challenger EV1020-XP9

Spotting a vehicle under swing arms costs real time in an express bay where minutes per car, not lift points per vehicle, decide the day's throughput. The Challenger EV1020-XP9 is a drive-on-pad configuration of the EV1020 inground lift built to solve exactly that. Flip-up drive-on pads replace the swing arms of the standard EV1020, so the technician drives straight on and up — no arm-under-vehicle spotting required.

The lift shares the EV1020's 8.5" diameter chrome guide plungers, chrome non-breathing ram-style cylinders, and fully-contained sealed cassette tub construction.

Who the EV1020-XP9 Is Built For

  • Shops that need service-bay floor space back — the EV1020-XP9's cassette sits below grade, so the bay floor is clear whenever the lift is down -- no post footprint eating into walkway or parking space.
  • Express bays that need the fastest possible vehicle spotting — fixed drive-on pads replace swing arms entirely -- the tech drives straight on, no arm-under-vehicle positioning required.
  • Buyers who value a sealed, contained lift mechanism — the fully-contained cassette tub eliminates the risk of hydraulic fluid seeping into the ground -- a real environmental and inspection concern with older inground designs.
  • Shops fine with a stand-alone control console — if you don't need the bench-mounted option, the standard console keeps the purchase simpler -- BMC is available on this same family if you change your mind later.
  • Shops that don't need the fastest possible cycle time — standard-speed rise/descent keeps the purchase price down -- QuickCycle is available on this same family if cycle time becomes the bottleneck later.

What the EV1020-XP9 Is NOT Built For

  • You want a surface-mounted lift with no excavation or concrete work -- an inground lift is a bigger construction project than a 2-post or 4-post, not a drop-in replacement.
  • You need to reach lift points a fixed pad can't cover -- the swing-arm EV1020 gives you arm-reach flexibility this pad configuration doesn't.
  • You regularly need to pull EV battery packs or service extra-wide vehicles -- look at the wide-clearance EW version in the same capacity class instead.
  • You don't have shop air available -- this lift's lock release requires 90-120 psi air supply.
  • You specifically want Bench-Mount Controls out of the box -- order the -BMC configuration of this same model instead.

What Sets the EV1020-XP9 Apart

  • 9,000 lb. lifting capacity
  • Fixed drive-on style pad — no swing arms to position
  • 8.5" diameter chrome guide plungers provide stability under load
  • Chrome non-breathing ram-style cylinders for longer lift life
  • Mechanical lock engages every 3" for ergonomic working height
  • Fully-contained, sealed cassette tub eliminates hydraulic fluid ground-seepage risk
  • Stainless steel air lock release cylinder resists corrosion
  • Premium powder coat finish on bolsters
  • ALI/ETL certified

Installation Requirements

  • Below-grade pit/cassette excavation and concrete work, in addition to standard electrical and air-supply hookups.
  • Site survey (soil/water table, existing slab thickness, utility routing) required before installation.
  • Electrical service sized to 2HP, 208-230V, 60Hz, 1-Phase, run by a licensed electrician.
  • Shop air plumbed to the lift at 90 - 120 psi for the lock release.
  • Professional installation by a Challenger-authorized installer is strongly recommended given the scope of excavation and concrete work.
  • Alamo coordinates the pit plan, freight, rigging, installation, and startup as part of the purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions - EV1020-XP9

What is the lifting capacity?

9,000 lbs.

How is this different from the EV1020?

The XP9 uses fixed drive-on pads instead of swing arms, for the fastest possible vehicle spotting in express bays; capacity is 9,000 lbs. vs. the EV1020's 10,000 lbs.

Does it need shop air?

Yes, 90 - 120 psi.

Why Buy the EV1020-XP9 from Alamo Equipment & Service?

  • We plan the pit with you. An inground lift install starts with excavation and concrete, not a delivery truck -- Alamo reviews your bay layout before you commit to an EV1020-XP9.
  • We install it. Alamo coordinates the pit, concrete, electrical, and air-supply work end to end, then sets and commissions the lift.
  • We service it. After install, call the same equipment team at (817) 865-3707 for support.
  • We size it with you. At 9,000 lbs., we confirm this configuration against your vehicle mix and pit constraints before you order.
  • Freight and site coordination handled. This lift ships freight and needs a coordinated construction schedule; Alamo manages both.
