FS-Curtis RNP Series FAQs
RNP is a line of non-cycling refrigerated air dryers spanning roughly 10 CFM through 1,200 CFM, available in both air-cooled and water-cooled versions. Water-cooled models carry a W suffix in the model designation. The W suffix on a model number is the detail most often missed when ordering.
Water-cooled models reject condenser heat into a cooling water loop instead of into the equipment room. They suit hot rooms, high ambient conditions, or plants with an existing cooling water circuit, and they require flow, temperature, and water quality within the model's stated requirements.
Match the CFM rating to what your compressor actually delivers at working pressure, then confirm that rating holds at your inlet air temperature and ambient conditions. Hot inlet air derates a dryer significantly, which is the most common cause of a correctly-sized dryer underperforming.
Both are non-cycling refrigerated dryers. RNPX covers a specific band of flow capacities within the broader line. For most general shop work, yes. For spray finishing, many applications require additional drying and filtration beyond refrigerated drying, plus dedicated point-of-use filtration at the booth. It cannot hold its rated dew point at full flow, so moisture passes downstream into the piping and reaches the tools. The symptom is usually water at the drops or in tools rather than an obvious dryer fault, which is why undersized dryers often go undiagnosed for a long time.
Keep the condenser clean, verify the automatic drain discharges, and monitor dew point where the unit indicates it. On water-cooled models, also monitor the water circuit for scale and fouling. A failed drain is the most common issue and is easy to miss because the dryer keeps running normally.
