Lift Pads & Adapters FAQs
Lift pads are the rubber or polyurethane contact points between the lift arms and the vehicle. They compress, tear, and degrade with use and with exposure to oil and solvents. Worn pads reduce grip and can damage the vehicle, so they are a routine replacement item.
Pads are specific to the lift manufacturer and arm design, mounting by pin, screw, or slip-on depending on the model. Identify your lift's make, model, and pad mounting type before ordering. Alamo can cross-reference from the lift's data plate information.
Stackable adapters add height between the arm pad and the vehicle's lift point, which is needed for trucks and SUVs with high frame clearance or for vehicles where the pinch weld sits above the arm's normal reach. They stack in increments to reach the required height.
Adapters must fit the arm's pad mount correctly and carry the load safely. Cross-brand use is generally not advisable. Use adapters specified for your lift by its manufacturer.
Many unibody vehicles require pinch weld adapters with a slot that captures the weld seam rather than crushing it. Some EVs and vehicles with underbody panels require specific lift point adapters. Confirm the manufacturer's lift point guidance for the vehicles you service.
Replace when the contact surface is torn, heavily compressed, oil-degraded, or no longer sitting flat. There is no fixed interval — it depends on use. Inspect pads as part of your regular lift check and keep spares on hand since they are inexpensive.
Reduced grip on the lift point, risk of the vehicle shifting, and potential damage to the vehicle's underbody. Given how inexpensive pads are relative to that risk, worn pads are not worth running. Pad cost is trivial next to a scratched rocker panel or a shifted vehicle.
