Oil-Free Compressors

Oil-free air compressors for applications requiring contaminant-free compressed air — medical and dental practice air, pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage processing, electronics, and breathing air applications where oil contamination is not acceptable. This collection covers oil-free compressor configurations from FS Curtis (OL Series). Oil-free designs eliminate oil from the compression process entirely. Oil-Free Compressors FAQs

When any oil carryover into the air stream is unacceptable — food and beverage handling, pharmaceutical work, some paint and finishing applications, medical and dental air, and electronics assembly. In general automotive service a lubricated compressor with proper coalescing filtration is normally sufficient. Alamo can advise which your application actually requires.

FS-Curtis OL series oil-less units, including basic pump assemblies in roughly the 5 to 15 HP range and complete tank-mounted simplex and duplex packages. The range covers both bare pumps for replacement or custom builds and ready-to-install packaged units.

That's not the case. Oil-free removes the compressor lubricant as a contamination source, but the air still carries atmospheric moisture and particulate. Drying and particulate filtration are still required. Oil-free changes what kind of contamination you are managing, not whether you manage it.

Oil-free pumps generally have shorter rebuild intervals than lubricated pumps of equivalent size because the compression elements run without an oil film. There is no oil to change, but wear components need attention on a defined schedule. Compare the manufacturer's stated maintenance interval against your expected run hours before selecting.

Oil-less reciprocating units commonly run louder than equivalent lubricated units. If the compressor sits near a work area or customer-facing space, plan for an enclosure, an isolated equipment room, or a quieter technology. Sound level is model-specific and should be checked before installation.

Basic pumps are the bare compression assembly, ordered as a replacement for an existing installation or built into a custom package. Packaged units arrive complete with motor, tank, and controls ready to pipe and wire. Order a basic pump only when matching an existing motor, tank, and control setup.

Larger oil-free units in this range are generally specified for three-phase power. Confirm voltage, phase, and full-load amperage against your building service for the specific model before ordering, and confirm the electrical panel has capacity for the starting load.
