A rolling bridge jack sits across the runways of a four-post lift and lifts the wheels clear of the runway so wheel, brake, and suspension work can be done on a drive-on lift. It rolls along the runways to position under either axle.

They add height between the jack saddle and the vehicle's lift point, needed for trucks and vehicles with high frame clearance. They stack in increments to reach the correct contact height while keeping the load properly centered.

Identify the jack manufacturer, model, and serial number. Bridge jacks in particular vary by the runway spacing they are built for, so the lift they are used with matters as well as the jack itself.

Hydraulic seals, saddle pads, rollers and wheels that run on the runways, and pneumatic components on air-operated models. Leaking hydraulics and worn saddle pads are the two most common service items.

Only if the runway spacing and dimensions match and the jack's capacity is appropriate. Bridge jacks are sized to specific runway configurations — confirm compatibility before moving one between lifts.

Check hydraulic fluid level and look for leaks, inspect saddle pads for wear, keep rollers clean and moving freely, and verify the jack holds load without drift. A jack that drifts under load should be taken out of service until repaired.
