4 Post Service

A 4-post service lift raises vehicles on drive-on runways for oil service, undercarriage inspection, exhaust work, general maintenance, and any service that benefits from a stable elevated platform. Unlike 2-post lifts, the vehicle's wheels stay loaded on the runway surface. It is the standard choice for oil-change and quick-service bays.

A service 4-post has continuous runways optimized for general use — no turn plate recesses or slip plate channels. An alignment 4-post includes integrated provisions for turn plates and rear slip plates needed for accurate four-wheel alignment work. Service lifts are not suitable substitutes for alignment work without the correct runway provisions.

This collection covers 11,000 to 14,000 lbs. Standard passenger-and-light-truck service bays typically use 9,000 to 14,000 lb models. Heavy commercial service bays use 15,000 to 18,000 lb configurations. Match capacity to your heaviest regularly serviced vehicle's gross vehicle weight.

A typical 4-post service lift requires 18 to 22 feet of runway length and 10 to 12 feet of width plus 4 feet of approach clearance at the drive-on end. Plan total bay length at 24 to 28 feet minimum for comfortable drive-on access and adequate technician working clearance around the lift.

Standard 4-post service lifts typically require a minimum of 4 inches of 3,000 PSI concrete. The load is distributed across four base pads rather than two anchor columns, generally making 4-post base requirements less demanding than 2-post anchor requirements. Always verify the specific model's installation sheet before site preparation.
