2 Post ALI Certified FAQs

ALI Gold Label certified 2-post lifts independently tested to ANSI/ALIALCTV safety standards — required by most commercial insurers, dealership programs, and OSHA-aligned facilities.

ALI certification verifies that the specific model was independently tested by a third-party lab to ANSI/ALI ALCTV standards. Most commercial insurance carriers and dealership programs require certified 2-post
lifts to maintain liability coverage. Non-certified lifts may be well-built but carry no independent documentation — a gap that creates liability exposure in compliance-audited shops and franchise operations.

Alamo carries ALI Gold Label-certified 2-post lifts from Challenger, Atlas, and APlusLift, all of which maintain active third-party certification programs. Each product listing displays the ALI badge and we provide current Gold Label documentation with every certified lift order on request.

Yes. Both symmetric and asymmetric configurations are in this collection. Symmetric models center heavier trucks between the columns; asymmetric models offset the vehicle rearward for better door clearance on passenger cars. ALI certifies the specific model and capacity combination — not just configuration type.

Capacities run from 9,000 lbs for standard passenger and light-truck work to 15,000 lbs for heavy-duty applications. Most certified shop lifts run 10,000 to 12,000 lbs. Select at least twice the gross vehicle weight of the heaviest vehicle you regularly service to stay within rated capacity.

Yes. Proper installation by a qualified technician is required to maintain certification. An improperly installed lift — even one with a Gold Label — can lose certification standing and void the manufacturer's warranty. Alamo Equipment coordinates installation through our certified installer network nationwide.

ALI maintains a public online directory at autolift.org where any lift can be verified by manufacturer and model at no cost. We provide certification documentation with every order. Models that lapse or lose certification are immediately removed from this collection upon notification from the manufacturer or ALI.

A certified lift was submitted to an accredited lab, tested, registered, and carries the current Gold Label decal. A lift claiming to meet ALI standards is a manufacturer assertion with no independent verification. For insurance and compliance purposes only the Gold Label is accepted — these are not equivalent designations and cannot be substituted for each other.
