4-Post ALI Certified Lift FAQs

ALI Gold Label certified 4-post lifts independently tested to ANSI/ALIALCTV standards for drive-on alignment, service, and storage applications where documentation and compliance matter.

ALI certification on a 4-post lift means the specific model was independently tested by a third-party lab and verified to ANSI/ALI ALCTV safety standards. It carries the current Gold Label and is listed in ALI's
public registry. This is distinct from a manufacturer's self-certification claim and is the standard required by most commercial insurance carriers and dealership programs.

Certified 4-post lifts are used for wheel alignment work, drive-on vehicle service, and long-term vehicle storage in commercial shops, dealerships, and fleet maintenance facilities. The drive-on runway design keeps wheels loaded on the surface, making certified 4-posts ideal for alignment and any service where wheel position under load matters.

Certified 4-post lifts here run from 9,000 lbs for standard passenger service to 18,000 lbs for light commercial and fleet applications. Standard service 4-posts are typically 14,000 to 18,000 lbs; alignment-rated models commonly run 14,000 to 15,000 lbs. Select a capacity matching your heaviest regularly serviced vehicle.

Yes. Alignment-rated 4-posts include integrated turn plate recesses and slip plate channels for four-wheel alignment work. Standard service configurations are optimized for general service and storage. Both types carry ALI certification independently — the certification covers the specific model and configuration as tested and registered.

Yes. Proper installation is required to maintain certification status. An improperly installed lift — even one with a current Gold Label — can result in loss of certification status and void the manufacturer's warranty. Alamo Equipment coordinates installation through our network of certified installers for all lift purchases.

ALI's public directory at autolift.org lists all currently certified lifts by manufacturer and model — you can look up any model before purchasing. Alamo Equipment also provides certification documentation with every certified lift order. We remove models from this collection immediately upon receiving notice of lapsed certification.

A typical certified service 4-post lift requires 18 to 22 feet of floor length by 10 to 12 feet of width plus approach clearance at the drive-on end. Alignment-rated 4-posts run 22 to 25 feet. Always plan for at least 4 feet of approach space beyond the end of the runways.

Standard 4-post lifts require a minimum of 4 inches of 3,000 PSI concrete. The drive-on design distributes the load across four base pads, generally making anchor requirements less demanding than those for 2-post column anchors. Verify the specific model's installation sheet — heavier commercial models may have additional requirements.
