Alignment Lifts FAQs
Alignment lifts deliver the flat, stable platform and integrated turnplates required for accurate four-wheel alignment service.
An alignment lift has a runway or platform manufactured to tighter flatness tolerances than a standard service lift, integrated cutouts for front turn plates positioned at common wheelbase ranges, and integrated rear slip plates that let the rear wheels move freely during alignment measurement.
Both work for the alignment service. Scissor alignment lifts have a smaller footprint and can serve as combination alignment-plus-service bays. 4-post alignment lifts have longer runways (better for trucks and longer wheelbase vehicles) and typically support higher weight capacities.
Yes. An alignment lift provides the platform; the aligner machine (camera-based or sensor-head) is a separate piece of equipment that measures the wheel angles. Most aligner brands work with most alignment lifts — confirm aligner compatibility before purchase.
Most passenger-car alignment lifts are rated 12,000 to 14,000 lbs. Truck and heavy-duty alignment lifts can support loads of 18,000 lbs or more. Capacity should be roughly twice the gross vehicle weight of the heaviest vehicle you align.
A 4-post alignment lift typically needs 22 to 25 feet of bay length plus approach clearance. A scissor alignment lift needs 14 to 18 feet of bay length. Both need at least 12 feet of width for the technician's working room around the vehicle.
Scissor alignment lifts work well as a combination alignment-plus-service bays for general work. 4-post alignment lifts in the Alignment Combo configuration include rolling jacks that lift the wheels off the runways — giving you 2-post-style service access on the same lift used for alignment.
Many alignment lift models in this collection carry current ALI Gold Label certification. See the Alignment ALI Certified sub-collection or check individual product pages for certification status.
Most alignment lifts in this collection include integrated rear slip plates. Front turn plates are sometimes included and sometimes sold separately — always confirm on the product specification. Higher-end turn plates (electronic, sealed) are typically purchased separately.
